The Afro-Latino Festival moves to Thor Park in Genk

Afro-Latino: New Chapter!

After 21 editions in Bree, the Afro-Latino Festival is moving to the city of Genk. Thor Park, the former Waterschei coal mine, has been restored over the past years to a beautiful heritage site in a hightech park for renewable energy and technology and will be the new home of the Afro-Latino Festival from 2022 onwards!
In Bree we experienced 21 great years, we grew from a small festival to one of the biggest exotic music festivals in the Benelux! We are very grateful to the city of Bree for the wonderful time and good cooperation!
During the corona years we sat together and looked for ways to strengthen the DNA of Afro-Latino and offer our visitors even more added value in terms of festival experience, mobility, sustainability, accommodation and our line-up. This led to the move to a new top location in Limburg and a number of other innovations.

In fact, with this resettlement we are creating enormous added value for our visitors. The Afro-Latino Festival will take place at Thor Park in a UNIQUE SETTING of CULTURAL-INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE, which also completely fits our own story of SUSTAINABILITY and CULTURAL DIVERSITY (the former coal mine was a workplace where people from different cultures worked together).
Thor Park is currently a hightech science park working on SUSTAINABILITY, GREEN ENERGY and TECHNOLOGY for the future, elements that will also be applicable in the event and festival sector. The festival site of the Afro-Latino Festival will also be the most beautiful festival site of the Benelux with a beautiful view of the mine ridge and National Park Hoge Kempen.
